Why Opal's

I have always been an old-fashioned homesteader.

I sold my first cake while I was a teenager, and as

a young adult I sold my handmade ties to make extra money.

I have cross-stitched, sewn, quilted, canned, cured, baked,

and cake decorated. My interests have always been to make

things from scratch, and by hand.

A few years ago, I started playing with the idea of making my own laundry detergent.  Thankfully I found success, and this led me to liquid soaps.  As my interest in this area grew, I started to make soap bars.

What started out as a hobby has grown and now it is my most ardent passion. I have committed, and invested countless hours to studying and learning all I can so I can create the “perfect bar” of soap.

I handcraft all my beautiful enriched bars in small batches from the highest quality blends of natural and exotic oils and butters, also incorporating natural clays and botanicals.  These soaps are gentle and nourishing, and can be used on the face as well as the body.

When creating my soaps I incorporate a unique process that includes adding extra oils and butters after the soap making process in order to maintain all of their benefits.  These artisan bars will not only cleanse, but also moisturize and replenish the skin.

I  have a Diploma in Organic Skincare Formulation, which has helped me tremendously in expanding my product range, which now also includes lotions, serums, and hair care.

GIVING BACK

At Opal's Handmade, we feel we have a responsibility to ourselves, our customers and our community to “give back”.  We donate to homeless shelters, women’s shelters, veterans and those less fortunate among us.

Since January 2018, we have donated over 300 bars of soaps and other toiletries.

I am determined to formulating with the highest quality ingredients to give you the best skin you’ve ever had.
